·       Jack Gordon- 14:00 Shutting down for three weeks of renovations

·       Events coming up- August 16th Rock the Rails

·       August 26th Party in Alexandria Park- request for volunteers to lead Pokémon Walk (12:00-17:00, Movie at 18:00)

City of Leduc - Glen

·       Relaxation of patio bylaws, Murphy’s will be creating a patio space

·       Ashtrays on Main street ordered to reduce cigarette litter

·       Lorraine’s front door issue to be resolved next week

·       Sprinkler system at hotel issues to be resolved

·       Art Walk on Saturday from 11:00-20:00

·       Speeding data- Record was 105 km/hr, stats on speed and volume distributed

City of Leduc- Laura

·       Art Walk is tomorrow:

·       Painting pig featured

·       Five vendor waiting list- completely full

·       Mini foundry for kids

·       Stage set up for artists- location not yet determined

·       Hot dogs, concession available

·       Main Street from Komfolio’s to ATB

·       Carley to check for available power today

·       Plans for follow up survey to be discussed, some businesses have been notified of event, but not all

·       Post-event survey to be done by Amanda


(d)   Leduc-Nisku EDA – Michelle Levasseur

·       BREI conference hosted in Edmonton- Great success

·       Met with Roger Brooks re: Leduc

·       BR&E program to start in September

·       Edmonton Annexation to go through uncontested. Ask is 22,000 acres, will also pursue Beaumont land. Airport is out of annexation for now. Airport accord is being looked at by partnership between Airport, Edmonton, Leduc. Airport advantage- planning, development process expedited by Leduc County.

·       15 municipalities within Edmonton Region forming Edmonton Metro Regional Development ____ Mayor Greg Krischke is chairperson of group. Don Iveson co-chair.

(e)   Downtown Coordinator- Kristy Irving/ STEP Student- Amanda Short

·       Chili Cook-Off registration officially opened July 7th, Sponsorship packages have been created and are awaiting sponsorship before securing entertainment.

·       Attraction Video Committee has met and agreed on storyboard, Amanda is putting together a shot list to showcase as many downtown businesses as possible, Eric and Councilor Bob Young have been collecting footage from summer events such as Canada Day and the Grand Opening Event

·       Social Media has been taken on by Amanda, as well as website. Website has been updated and form has been added for businesses to notify the DBA of sales or special events

·       Map/Directory- Two different layouts have been researched for directories. Fold out map (Design $249.17 + GST, Printing $0.44 per copy), 24-page booklet (Design $780, Printing $1.96 per copy) Motion to approve format: Tabled until more information is available.

·       Parking committee has a short survey created by Amanda to take to the streets this summer

·       Things We LOVE Infographic took ideas from LOVE ball station at Grand Opening and will use input from community to design infographic for display on website, social media, and in map/directory. Price $195 + tax, board approval of spending required Motion to approve spending for design: Josh/ Debbie. Passes



a)                 Grand Opening of Main Street- Review

·       Main activities: confetti cannon ceremony, sidewalk sales, outdoor concert, children’s activities

·       Good turnout from dignitaries, estimated 600 attendees

·       Entertainment: Photo Wall, LINX concession, Petting Zoo, Face Painting/Glitter tattoos, Balloon Twister, Skipping and Musical performances

·       40% of businesses surveyed post-event reported increase in sales, foot traffic

·       Positive and negative feedback, including testimonials

·       Estimated budget: $6794.45, Actual budget: $6447.04

b)                 Parking Committee

·      Physical survey- six questions

·      Suggestion to put document on Survey Monkey, borrow iPads from the City of Leduc

·      Motion to approve wording: Carly/Chris. Approved



a)     Sport Tourism & DBA Partnership- Janet Guthrie, Leah

·      National Leader in Sport Tourism, over 150 annual events (1000’s of visitors)

·      Stimulus for local economy (Sustainable sporting event of the year)

·      Increase downtown business, improve communication through program info

·      Partnership Proposal- Business Engagement, Sponsorship Engagement, Event Engagement

·      Business Engagement- Savings program, event exclusive

·      Sponsorship Engagement- Business to business deal, create exposure. Annual presentations to DBA by Sport Organizations. Money, value-in-kind, etc. Activate at events

·      Event Engagement- Maximum effort, cost but greatest reward. Events in conjunction with sporting events.

·      Non-retail opportunity- Master contact list. Medical, emergency, event support. First Aid

·      Decision to proceed investigation via Events Committee

c)     Maclab Sponsorship

·      Suggestion to look into having repeated media exposure before every show instead of a one-off event. Marketing vs Sponsorship costs

·      Maclab has lost a lot of sponsors lately, worth discussing creative measures with sponsorship.

·      Suggestion to have something set up in lobby for every show- manned table, free admission for volunteers

·      Pre-show sponsorship
